I recently purchased this scanner and have been using it with fairly good results for the last 2 weeks. But now, I can't get the film holder to load properly. It will start to load in for an index scan and then get stuck halfway and just start clicking and clicking. I thought something was obstructing the path but the slide holder loads no problem. I checked the film holder for any marks that would indicate a sticking point and nothing. The whole film transport seems poorly designed, but for the price I like this scanner. Should I just exchange it? Get a new film holder? has anyone had this problem? I guess I'll call Konica on monday and see what they say, but I thought if anyone here knows a quickfix, I'll try that first.
roy_des_ruisseaux
This may not help at all but before sending it back or calling service. Unistall the software then reinstall it. sometimes this fixes things. Certainly worth a try.
mattalofs
It will do that if the film holder isn't closed properly. Make sure that the neg is sitting in the holder under both tabs and that the latch in the center of the holder is firmly secured.
trw
Also check to ensure that the film isn't out the front end of the film area of the holder. The front left corner of the top flap gets stuck on something inside the scanner and it won't load and may be damaging your scanner. (assuming your're talking about the filmstrip holder, not the mounted slide holder).
I think Trent may have the answer. The top flap does seem to stick up a bit on the left corner. Is there a remedy? tape?
Ok. It's working now. 1st I uninstalled and reinstalled the driver application and I also make sure front left corner is nor sticking up at all. Loaded and scanned jst fine now. Thanks guys. Sure beats the heck outta shipping the scanner in for repairs.
mendel_leisk
Anthony, you might consider ordering extra holders. I think they come 2 to a pack, from B&H (for example). Even if your current one doesn't break, the extra holders are handy for loading the next strip in advance. If the latches involves any sort of flexing or tensioning of plastic, they are prone to break, eventually.
