richard_williamson3
Hi all. I'm new to the forum. I've recently purchased a Contax 645 which I'm loving. Having read the instruction manual I gained the impression that you can only use mirror lock up facility with the cable release. Is this correct, or can it be used in conjuction with the self timer? Many thanks, Richard
mikeseb
I have never tried it in conjunction with the self-timer; but it can certainly be used without the cable release. You depress that flat, hard-to-feel button at the front of the body's upper left side (as you orient the camera as if to shoot) and the mirror snaps up until after the exposure, or until you depress the button again. Dunno about the self-timer; can't see why it wouldn't work. Sacrifice a frame and let us know! Ain't it a great camera? Never used better.
svein_erik1
About the selftimer: When you put it to 2 or 10 second the mirror locks up the second you push the shutter button. So mirror up is "built in".
ulrich_ploedereder
Hi Michael, take a piece of double-sided adhesive foil and stick a small semi-ball (hemishere) on the button for the mirror lock-up. What works great are the small eyes for teddy bears where you cut off the hooks at the flat side. I wonder who has designed this impractical button of this great camera ... wolf_rainer_schmalfuss
Hi Richard, The mirror lock up is functioning also with ALL adapted lenses, if you set the selftimer to 2 seconds! This helpful procedure is NOT mentioned in the manual! Regards Rainer
