lutz
The hot shoe is coming off. Very loose now with apparently two, three tiny screws which would have to be blocked from underneath the top cover. Do you have any experience to share re: taking off the top cover, fixing the hot shoe? Thanks, merry Christmas and peace to everybody!
daniel_kreithen1
http://www.photo.net/bboard/q-and-a-fetch-msg?msg_id=00CCeT&tag= This should tell you how to remove the top cover, which is easy. I'm not sure how to tighten the hot shoe, though. While you have it off, clean the glass surfaces of the viewfinder. Hope this helps.
michaelging
I believe the question is about the Konica Hexar Auto-focus camera and not the Rangefinder camera. I might be wrong, though.
ray .
If by top cover you mean the rubber covering- you have to peel it off from the edges. Just grab it from the edge and pull. It's stuck on with an adhesive and will give quite a bit of resistance, but just pull it and get it off. All you need do when replacing is to stick it back in place and the adhesive is strong enough so it will again hold without any re-gluing. Be very careful of course when taking off the top plate, which doesn't come completely off the camera because of electrical connections. Not sure about the specifics of how to repair the hot shoe. ray .
I guess by top cover you actually meant the metal top plate, but you do need to remove the rubber cover to get to the screws...
karl_knize
Mine's in the shop now for the same thing, along with the common shutter release problem. $95 plus parts.

subhash_tiwari
Ray asked the very question I was about to. I have a Hexar AF which gives me error messages only and not currently usable. Hope there is someone who can repair it. Its such a great Camera !
lutz
Thanks, Daniel. Your link provided the info I was hoping for. Thanks, Ray, too - "top plate" might have been more apropriate... Will report on how smooth the repair went. Cheers.
