wheels1
Hey all, Does anyone have knowledge of a release date of the "next generation" EOS 1Ds? If logic prevails, the 1Ds is ready for a 2.5" LCD, USB 2.0 and a few software upgrades witnessed in the 1D Mk II (N). The Canon website devotes (and has devoted) so little to the 1Ds Mk II that it is apparent the boys at Canon are saving keystrokes for the "new" camera. I've already decided that I will forgo eating, new clothes and a roof over my head for my new camera so I donメt want to splurge only to find the 1Ds Mk II has a new sibling. This is a shot-in-the-dark but I thought Iメd try. Thanks in advance, Patrick
mark u
The 1DMk II got an N upgrade as a planned response to Nikon's D2X. However, the 1Ds Mk II has no obvious competitors, so I wouldn't expect an N version, but rather that both cameras will be combined into a single successor with announcement at Photokina next fall. Bear inmind also that the 1Ds Mk II is somewhat newer than the 1D Mk II was when it got its midlife lifter, so Canon will want to run with the camera right through til the next major upgrade. howard_grill
Well, I am in the same boat as you thinking about a 1DsMkII. I hate to contribute to rumors because who knows how these things start...but you can have a look at this: http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1032&message=16687612 Howard
