james_chan4
Can somebody help me out here? Is there a ring flash attachment for the Contax 645 system? I appreciate your help!!
colin_elliott
James, There are many Ring Flashes out there. Are you looking for a TTL compatible flash system? That maybe more difficult.
ulrich_ploedereder
Hello James, the Novoflex flash system has definitely a special adaptor for TTL light metering with the Contax. You need the generator and the ring flash. The only problem might be the large diameter of your lens front thread (72 mm). I'm using the generator in combination with the FlashArt on my 645. The generator and the flashes are really not made by Novoflex they are a third party product. I'm sure there are some other flashes out there which are using the same generator and adaptors under a different brand. Uli
andrewlamb
James, You can use a ring flash on the Contax 645. I've seen a guy use one backstage at the fashion shows. Sorry, don't know the make.
james_chan4
Thanks guys, for your help! I don't necessarily need a TTL compatible system, anything manuel will do. I know I've seen some fashion/portrait photographers using ring flashes on the contax, but I just can't seem to nail down the make of it... could someone give me a suggestion? Thanks!!! jonas_yip1
I use a Sunpak DX-12R with the Contax TTL module with my 645 and it works great. It's designed for macro work of course, but I use it at head/shoulder portrait distances with no problem.
Here's a sample from my site.
j
christopher gentile photog
James i use a profoto ring flash, off my pack or a battery pack for location work. Wireless remote and you will have no problem. Most places rent profoto. good luck Christopher
