?'s about Soligor Spot Sensor

I just recieved my first dedicated spot meter in the mail. A old

analog Soligor thats in beautiful shape. I had a couple of questions

about it that I hoped you guys could answer.

1: When I press the battery check button what should I see in the

finder? Should it point directly in the middle?

2: How do I zero the pointer? Should I adjust it so it's at the

black dot without the button being pressed or what?

3: How do I know to read from the high reading or the low reading?

Do I just have to guess? I believe that the Pentax model are always

on and you press the button to get the high reading, does the

Soligor operate on the same principle?

Thanks a lot for your help. I've look over the internet for some

answers, including on this board, but I couldn't find any.

I'm anxious to get out and shoot some slides. I just want to know

that I'm using my equipment properly!

Spot Sensor 1? All metal, grey, short hand grip?

The needle should swing to the right of the red centre mark in the finder with fresh batteries. The original batteries on mine were PX625. I have CRIS MR-2 adapters

Do you need to zero it? Check the readings with a grey card and against another meter.

The trigger has two levels. The first pressure uses the high range. If the needle stays on the left, squeeze to the second pressure to use the lower scale.

I agree with the other commenter about zeroing. My first spotmeter was a Spot Sensor ($99 I think) and it was very accurate as long as I had it, so test it against another meter.

A "trick" I was shown when I got this meter is that it will accept 43mm filters, so if you are using a filter on your lens and are worried about forgetting to adjust for filter factor, you can just put a filter on the meter. I didn't do this but you can.
