bj_rn_petter_hernes
I just got another IIa off fleabay - this time a black dial, there isa noticeable difference in the shutter sounds between the two cameras, the Colour dial I have (which was serviced in Germany this summer) isquite kind of hard, whereas the one I now got is soft as a belly. Ihave not been able to test the speeds of the second one, the first one(with the hard sound) seems to work fine at all speeds. The blackdial one seems OK on the slow speeds, but it is hard to tell with thefaster speeds. The sound is so soft that I can hardly hear it. I have not read anywere that there was a change in shutters betweenblack dial and colour dial Contax IIa, so I assume that one of mycameras had a dodgy one which needs servicing, or is there that muchof a difference from camera to camera ... Any ideas. Bjrn Petter Hernes
michaelging
it might be because of the difference in the flash sync. that you hear a different sound in the shutters, only a guess.
bj_rn_petter_hernes
Just thought I would attach an image taken with my Colour Dial it is with the Zeiss Opton 50/2 lens, film Fuji 160N<div></div>
richard_oleson
I own a black dial and have worked on color dials; i never noticed a difference. my black dial gives a pretty pronounced snap at the fast speeds, but it is very soft and quiet at the slow ones. benlloyd
Rick has been too modest to point you here too...<br> <a href="http://rick_oleson.tripod.com/index-135.html">"You already own a shutter tester"</a>
bj_rn_petter_hernes
Many thanks for the responses, I will do the test once I have finished the film I have in it now. The sound on the black dial is soft on all speeds, and for the colour dial it is snappy all the way.
vidom
I have three IIa BD, they all sound different. One is very smooth and silent, two sound rougher and louder. A recently serviced camera will always be smoother and quieter.
richard_oleson
well, not necessarily: one whose shutter is gummy and running slowly will also sound very smooth and quiet.
Troll
My old BD was very quiet compared to the loud "snap" of my CD. Also, the shutter release was soft and smooth, whereas my CD is a little "notchy."
