c_d5
Just want to thanks Torben for a really great deal on the 40mm viewfinder. It really look great on my M2. Anybody else have an experience with a 40mm viewfinder on M body?<div></div>

Rob F.
Actually it looks like a hybrid. M3/MP raised frames around finder windows; M2 style fresnel illuminator window; M2/MP style manual reset frame counter (as far as I can tell from the front view). No self-timer. M3/MP style lens release guard. I might guess it to be an MP converted to an M2 type finder.
c_d5
Rob, you got it right. Bought it as is. All I care is that it has the M2 frameline, and work well.
dan flanders
It looks cool alright but the 35mm frame in the M2 is perfect for 40mm lenses, so why is it needed? If you are pernickety and want exact framing you can file the lug on the lens; otherwise the 40mm will bring up the 50mm frame in the VF which is the way I prefer since it allows plenty of croping room around the image. c_d5
Hi Dan, Because, the way I photograph, 35 frameline will cut off the feet, and the 50mm is a little bit too much. I usually don't crop.
c_d5
And oh yeah, the viewfinder? is much much more brighter than the on camera one.
david_d4
"It looks cool alright but the 35mm frame in the M2 is perfect for 40mm lenses,..." Sorry, but in practice I found them to be far from perfect, at least on the M2. They're too wide. I also got the tops and bottoms of my subjects cut off, even at moderate distances I understand that later Leicas (after the M4) have smaller frame lines to compensate for the cameras closer focusing distances so these may be fine,

Troll
The 35mm framelines on the M6 are perfect for a 40mm lens at infinity. The M2/4 will therefore be too wide.
