Does anyone know how the Prime Film 1800dpi shape up for doing b&w or

color film scans? I'm not planning on printing my scans so would this

scanners resolution do? With only 1800dpi would I just be better off

with a flatbed scanner? I suppose I just assume that a dedicated film

scanner no matter how budget would be better then most flatbeds for

this sort of work. The prime film, still in box, is only $45 off CL.

Any other ideas for a student photographer on a budget?

Thank you

wow $75 for a dual scan IV. where did you find it for that price? everywhere i look it seems to be about $150-200. i've been thinking about the epson 4490 which is also about $150-200. i guess i'm just not sure if it's even worth spending that much if i'll i'm doing is scanning my stuff for the web and personal use. i do however need to be able to do B&W photos so i guess the 1800u is out.

I can't make comment about Prime Film. I bought a used Minolta Dual Scan IV for $75 and very happy with its scan quality on 35mm slides. Thanks.

HiDavid. I mainly scan slides, so I don't know how the Minolta Dual Scan IV performs with B&W film. I bought it on Ebay months ago. I only buy from someones with 100% positive feedbacks. Currently many people are switching to digital, so they just buy scanners to scan their film and then resell the scanners for great discount. Thanks.
