ernie.grimes
Should I be setting the aperture setting on my 50mm 1:1.8 lens to match the camera aperture setting or do I just leave it locked on 22. This is all new to me Thank you for your help Ernie
hakon_soreide
Since you're asking that question, I assume you've got a 50mm f1.8 on for instance a Nikon autofocus SLR, where indeed you just keep it locked at 22 and the camera does the aperture changes automatically from there. hash
Keep it at f/22.
ernie.grimes
I failed to tell you what camera... I have a D70 Thanks for your help Ernie
bernard_frank
I don't know the D70, but from my experience with many other Nikon bodies (F5, F6, D100, D1X, D2X...) you should NOT have a "camera aperture setting" if your lens is not locked on its smaller aperture. Only a blinking "fEE" warning. Check that.
richard_laepple
Ernie, on the D70 (and others) you have to set/lock the aperture ring of the lens on f=22. Then set the f-stop with the camera dial.
Michael R Freeman
No disrespect intended, but your camera instruction manual is your friend, and the answer to your question is easily found in the section titled "<b><u>First Steps</u></b> - Attaching Lenses".<div></div>
jbq
What Michael said.
ernie.grimes
Thanks... as always you guys are super and you are correct I should have caught that one in my manual. I was looking at a beginners guide on D70 and misunderstood what it was saying on this subject. Ernie
