shelia_w.
I am interested in having a online viewing option for pictures for my wedding clients, and have heard a little about Smugmug. For those of you who are familiar with them, how is the print quality of pictures, and basically their overall business performance? I have already purchased a web site that is under construction, can Smugmug be linked to a website, or have 2, one for prices, packages, etc. and one for viewing pics, and purchasing from family & friends?? Thanks!!

tonylarcombe
Shelia, overall their business performance is excellent, the ability to customize the screens to match your other webistes (if you have some) is superb. I've not had much luck with the photo quality yet, but I'm to blame for that, I uploaded at a lower res and it was not good enough for prints. I'll be ordering a 11x14 soon, so that will tell me for definite what the qulaity is like. If you have a website built already then you can link to it from there, and use it solely for ordering/proofing if you want, they let you set your own prices in the pro account, $99 a year, they do take a cut of the profit though. Check out my site to get an idea of how you can customize to suit your needs, and use my email address tonylarcombe@comcast.net to get money off if you do subscribe. Tony. dave_nelson___atlanta__ga
I use SmugMug for event photography (http://davenelson.smugmug.com) and have been very happy with them. All printing is done by EZPrints.com who has done a great job for all of my customers.
In the last two years I am unaware of any unscheduled downtime and the downtime that was scheduled was very short. The web site responds fast and uploads are also fast. I currently have 4035 images that take up 11.25 GB of space available and am able to set my own prices for every print.
You can manipulate the design of SmugMug to a great extent. I recommend building the SmugMug site first so that you or your designer can get a better idea of the limitations first, then build your personal web site to match SmugMug.
Here are some links:

Customizing Galleries
Pro and Power User's Custom Look
Custom Domain Name

P.S.
For buying personal prints it is cheaper to go straight to EZPrints and upload/order prints directly from them. You avoid the SmugMug cut that way.
P.P.S.
And if you enter my email address (list@davenelson.com) as a referral you will recieve $5 off and I will receive a $10 credit towards next years fee. wedding-photography-denver
I use them for many events and find the galeries to work well. You can customize each gallery for your needs (clients or friends) and then save that 'template gallery' as a name of your choosing. The prints are another story. I like the quality of their prints for up to 5x7's but generally find the larger sizes to be less acceptable in the dept. of color rendition. It seems a tad warm for me. Another point about their printing is that the paper is not professional grade and has less 'life' to it. Good overall experience with them so far. nick_w.
It's worth considering Exposuremanager as well. They only charge $9.99/month for unlimited storage space, they print through EZPrints, you have plenty of customizing options, and the customer support is unbelievable. The site supports both Mac and PC users. I recently ordered a 20x30 print of a vacation pic for my home and it turned out great. I tried smugmug for a month but wasn't happy with the site's organization and layout. Plus the company name just doesn't sound professional. Good luck.
