blowingsky
I had a dream last night that all hell broke out in photography. Street photographers formed a gang and started beating up on macro photographers. Hardest hit were the ones that shoot bugs and stamens as they never saw it coming. The upset inspired digital camera users to come out against film camera "losers" but they (digital users) soon fell out amongst themselves in cross-accusations of manipulating images. Camera Users and Camera Collectors were in a bloody standoff with flaming barriers in the street. The conflict was ignited when the user group took a lavender ostrich hide Hermes MP with a Sultan of Brunei 24k gold Summicron 35mm lens theoretically capable of near- mystical bokeh and on a public access TV station, loaded it with K- Mart color print film, and took pictures with it. Leica photographers remained under siege (but in a rather interesting contrasty side light that screamed: "Tri-X please!") by point-and- shooters chanting "keep on the sunny side, always on the sunny side of 16". The P&S mob paid a helicopter to drop thousands and thousands of the same bad picture, only with different people and locations, onto at least some Leica users who were fondling their gear. They went into comas. War photographers embedded with glamour models and well...I woke up in a sweat, the night was zone 0, maybe zone 1. Has anyone else had a dream like this? roger_smith4
This is a great line: "Street photographers formed a gang and started beating up on macro photographers. Hardest hit were the ones that shoot bugs and stamens as they never saw it coming." Maybe bird watchers got nailed too.And where was Al Kaplan when all of this was happening? john_r._fulton_jr.
I was in London about ten years ago as an editor on a big photo production for a stock agency. There were two photographers, two editors with cameras, two models, a production person and a stylist. We were going thru a park going from one location to another. We all had our cameras out and were having a good time. A couple of the photographers had some big lenses. A man who spent alot of time sitting on park benches with his colleagues (some might call them street persons) became infuriated at the sight of us and picked up a rubbish bin and threw it at us. Two of our guys had a discussion with him and he sat back down and stopped shouting at us. When it was over with I realized we had looked like a photo gang. michael s.
Had a dream like that once, after eating the same Chicago pizza you had before taking this photo. At the time my only camera was a trusty Keystone Everflash I'd had for many years, so I struggled to make sense of the dream sequence. Until now, I blamed it on the pizza. You've made me realize that the Everflash was more likely the culprit. What color was that helicopter?

furcafe
If photogs could dance, it might look like "West Side Story."
rj
I had the exact same dream, funny that, except in the background a group of people were chanting "bok - eh, bok - eh." I got frightened and started awake throwing my m3 with my 50 cron across the room, because, of course, I sleep with it under my pillow.
blowingsky
"And where was Al Kaplan when all of this was happening?"He might have been the guy taking pictures of all this with a lens that was so wide both his ears vignetted the shots. anthony_brookes5
Well twitchers have ganged up , so why not photographers. BUT in all my years in photography I have yet to meet a nasty photographer. They all seem so benign and helpfu.
alan c.
i used to have recurring dreams of running out of film. or of the film advance lever on my camera jamming, and not being able to take pictures. these were frustrating nightmares. slowly i got lucid, started finding a roll of film at the bottom of my bag. got the jammed camera to work. the dreams went away when i quit my last regular job and became a photographer full-time. that was nine years ago. funny, huh? blowingsky
Dear Bob, The world's supply of quality bokeh comes from Tequila, not that circle of confusion nonsense. Go agave, young man. Lenses can always be recoated.
