dan_rosenfeld
Hi Folks, I'm puzzled about why it is that so many USians seem to have an EF 24-105/F4L--judging by comments/postings over the last few weeks. I understood that it wasn't officially available until 3 days ago, and has never been available at any web site I've been able to find. So, if you have one, would you mind telling me how/where you got it? Thanks, Dan
james_smith20
The lense was available for several weeks in Sept - early Oct. However to do a manufactures defect in the part of the first batch, canon pulled the lens from shelves. They are susposed to start shipping again in early to mid November. jon_austin
When the lens was first announced, B&H put it up on their website, even before they had product to ship. I activated the "notify me when this item is in stock" option for it, and IIRC, they started shipping in early/mid September. I placed my order with Penn Camera, however, because their price was $150 lower than B&H (so I could add a 77mm CP filter for no extra $$), they don't charge your credit card until the product actually ships, and they offer free ground shipping. That was 2-1/2 weeks ago, right after the time the flare defect "came to light," and to date, they're still back-ordered. They did ship some product prior to the recall, however.
