bill_gift
I have a ist DS and have been using it for about 6 weeks. Recently I have noteced two very small blue circles in the upper right side of my photos. They look like small crop cirles. No matter what lens or focal lenght (zoom) the still appear and do not change size. I see the small crop circle in blue sky araes only. They are not noticable in busy areas. Any ideas?? glenn_holden
Bill: Had the same problem a few weeks back- turned out to be a small speck of dust or hair on the sensor. (This happens I guess if you change lens a lot- they tell me it's best to turn the camera OFF when changing lens, apparently if you leave the power on, the sensor remains charged and will attract dust particles). It only showed up in the blue sky. Just do the cleaning of the sensor like the book says, Point the camera body down with the lens off, I used a manual blower, and it worked out ok. Good luck. bill_gift
Glenn, Thanks for the tip. Blew off the sensor with air ( from one of those aresole cans of dry air). I could not see anything, but the "crop cirles" went away. Thanks again Bill
ken davis
Hi Bill, et.al, Just a word of warning on the canned air approach. If you shake the can or get it tilted it can spit out liquid on the sensor. It's better to use either a Rocket Air Blower or other bulb blower that has enough umph to get the sensor clean. If you have stubborn specks, try either sensor swabs or one of the sensor brushes. I would avoid the aerosol canned air at all costs for sensor cleaning. Glad to hear you're spot free once again :-) Ken
