luka1905
Does anyone know how many shutter activations are guaranteed by Canon for D20, if there is such guarantee?
jbq
I don't think that there's any guarantee at all. They talk about "shutter durability" for the 1 series (doesn't sound like a guarantee to me), and I can't find anything for the 20D. Common wisdom is that the shutter of those 1.6x DSLRs is typically good for 30k to 50k shots, and costs $200 to $300 to replace. Ballpark numbers, of course, YMMV. davemmm
One way to find out:
1. Leave computer
2. Go outside
3. Take pictures with 20D
4. Repeat steps two to three until you have created thousands of beautiful images and either your shutter has died or you have shuffled off this mortal coil
5. Come back to your computer, and let us know how many shutter activations you got
In summary: does it really matter? the shutter is fragile, but pretty durable too - enjoy it :D
mark u
Canon's guarantee in most markets is for one calendar year from purchase, regardless of the number of images you shoot in that period. Once the year is passed, you are outside of warranty, again regardless of how many images you have shot.
