msitaraman
The ever indipensable Rob Galbraith site points to this article from Popular Photography in 1944, in which a number of photographers make their predictions about the future of 20th century photography. Sometimes, as in this instance, the experts in the field are dead-on in their prognostications. The article is fascinating for how many things these folks got right about the future direction of photographic technology and art...

Spearhead
I thought Moholy-Nagy's comments were the most interesting and the most insightful. The presence of WWII influenced quite a few in ways that don't really seem to have come true. Music and Portraits Blog: Life in Portugal

h._p.
None of them predicted a digital 'M', so we can take it that won't be arriving after all......
brett_davis1
Although he didn't realize it, Eliot Eliofson sort of predicted digital photography: "It is possible to perfect the camera to the point where it will become an automatic instrument which will focus, expose and process the film by the mere push of a button. In this way we will be able to realize a medium possessing an immediacy between seeing and recording unachieved by any other art."
msitaraman
My sincere apologies for not providing the link. And many thanks to those who have... I agree with Jeff Spirer about Moholy-Nagy. I guess its that kind of understanding and insight that distinguishes a giant in the field from merely competent artists...
