marco_f
Found a pentaprism in a box of stuff today. Looks to be from a 35mm SLR. Marked Ihagee Dresden on front face and Ihagee on rear. On the section that fits into the camera there is a serial #87845, a stylized VX logo and "Germany", all of these white on black. Also a little split prism ground glass focusing screen inserted, curved on one side, marked ihagee, and extenar. Anybody know what this is for or need one? miha_steinb_cher
It's an Exakta prism, probably an early one. Take a look at: http://captjack.exaktaphile.com/PRISM%20PAGE.htm It's a comprehensive page on Exakta prism finders and you'll most likely be able to determine exactly (no pun intended) which version have you found. paul s
You've got a pentaprism with split image finder screen for an Exakta Varex or VX. Circa 1952. The prism cover is chrome right? It will fit any of the Exakta's from the VX model to the VXIIB model plus the Exa's with the removeable finders. Depending on its condition it typically sells from anywhere from $15 to $35 and the screen itself sells anywhere from $2 to $10. I think there were three variations of the all chrome models made by Ihagee and perhaps one or two made by 3rd parties. Get yourself a nice Exa with a waistlevel finder for about $25. add a preset 50mm Tessar for another $25 and add this to it. you'll have a nice compact camera. -Paul
