waltz
Wilhelm Research says prints from the HP 8450 should last 108 years, but prints from the DesignJet 130 should only last 82 years on the same paper. Both printers use HP's Vivera inks. Does anyone know why the difference? Has HP changed their Vivera inks? And what about the DesighJet 130? It's been out for about a year and a half. Any idea if it's due for a replacement any time soon?
constance_cook
They have changed the Vivera inks. I really don't know about the difference unless it's the way the ink is presented to the surface. Conni

joseph_wisniewski
One thing that makes a difference is that the 8450 black generation is set up towards using as much black ink as possible for any "common" components of colors. So even a moderatly saturated looking color contains a surprising amount of one or more shades of black.
waltz
Oops. My bad. The DJ130 doesn't use Vivera inks. As Rosanne Rosannadanna (for those of you old enough to know and young enough to remember) would say, "Never mind".
jerry2
The HP 130 DOES use VIVERA Inks! HP has managed to confuse everyone about this.... whether this is the same ink used in previous models, such as 5500 and they simply renamed it, its still a mystery! On the Yahoogroups HP130 list, we are currently discussing this... Bill
