john_wire
My Iskra 2's "throw rocks" at the Electro 35 every time it comes near them saying it isn't a classic. They say it isn't fair for a camera with autoexposure and batteries to be around them. Do cameras discriminate? But then the Iskra's sometimes think they are giant rangfinders. I agree, keep the early borderline auto's out (the Electro's can visit the Leica site and agitate them) or open the door for all the 70's stuff. But then I'd have to read all the Canon/Nikon/Minolta/Oly/etc "puffery". The Iskra's are happy as it is.
john_wire
Now the GT is unhappy saying, who else, other than my Yashica siblings has an up to 30 second electronically controlled leaf shutter? And by the way, why is everyone all excited about these new rangefinders (you know, the real expensive ones)? They all have noisy FP shutters, can't anyone think outside the "box" and see the advantages of my leaf shutter? I know, I know, maybe 1/500 isn't as fast but how many times are you photographing humming birds? Don't forget how easy fill flash is with my leaf. And, is it beyond today's technology to put shutters in 35mm interchangeable lenses? Hmph.. what a bunch of narrow minded designers. And with todays new materials I could be as light and good looking as "Paris Hilton". So there...... smile. Regards.
ole_tjugen
I read "upping the age" and thought someone was showing off something even older than my 1880's plate camera with 1870's lens... :(
summitar
I agree with Larry. I would rather have a definition based on 30 years old, which would inlcude my F-1, F2, Spotmatic F, etc.
john falkenstine
I have brought this issue up numerous times. The ignored era includes the active photography lifespans of many of us. Instead, the suggestion was brushed off and we're buried under the digital noise in other forums. By ignoring this category photo.net is missing an opportunity to have more folks join photo.net and since photo.net states that it is interested in attracting more members, the whole thing doesn't make sense to me. Right now, my 35mm early generation AF point and shoots have no place to go. My F2 is orphaned because apparently the Nikon forum is now the D70 forum...with a minor mod to the code already in existence photo.net could make it lot more interesting...BTW the alternative cameras forum which apparently was intended as a step toward filling the gap is NOT doing so well, with very few postings lately.
