john_stark
Well just over a week away from the Brickyard 400 (who's All State anyway?) and the auto focus quit. It tries to focus, goes past the focus point and stops. It dose this with any lens so it's not a lens problem. Just curious if anyone else had this problem and if so what they did to fix it. Thanks, John
patkane
I had the same issue with my 300D, it was fixed in warranty in about a month including shipping time. The manifest said they replaced the mirror assembly and viewfinder screen, not exactly a DIY job... although you can swap screens on the 1D. I hope if you have a paid job lined up for the race you have a backup body or the problem works itself out.

john_stark
Well I have a DRebel but it's not up to the requirements of doing what I need at the Brickyard. I did call Canon, they said it sounds like a sensor problem, and that sounds like $$$ to me. It bites because I have 5 race track events in 4 days this coming week between Indy & IRP. fernando lopez
Manual focus on a point abt. the same distance as yr subject and shoot if all else fails. You don't necesarily need autofocus if your technique is good. I know autofocus helps a when shooting high speed action but it's like driving a car with automatic gear and one with manual gear. They both drive.
