Any comments, reviews on epson stylus rx700

Recommended Posts

Hi Craig :) I have the RX500 which is great for proof prints and very handy indeed for

various administrative tasks. But I don't use it for final output; The Epson 4870 and 2200

handle those jobs. I would imagine the RX700 would be just as good or better as long as

you realize it's limitations. In other words, what are your goals? Are you looking to make

archival prints or are you looking for an all-around office printer?

All in one products from Epson are real functionnal office space savers.

This one also offers CD/DVD printing along with a color display monitor.

This is their appeal.

It's a SOHO office machine that prints pictures. Epson offers other printers more suitable to quality photo printing.

Thanks for the replys but has anyone seen photo prints made by the rx 700 and if so are they considerably worse than say the 4870 or 2200. At this stage im not to concerned about archival qualitys, just like to print out some photos to hang round the house or give away,i also have hundreds of colour 35mm negs id like to scan to computer which the rx 700 can do ,but how accurately?

I have owned an RX700 for about a month.

I am a basic photographer (digital and film)

Drivers for buying an RX700 were:

- Needed better print quality than my old Epson Stylus Color 800 could provide

- Slide scanning capability so I can convert family slide collection

- Ability for non-computer savy family members to easily print quality photos from digital camera

- Wanted Epson due to experience with the old printer

Results:

- Excellent print quality. As a layman, I can't tell the difference between a film print and a photo printed om 6x4 glossy paper with the RX700. Very pleased. Family impressed

- Scanning of slides is teadious (4 at a time and not particularly quick) I have done about 100 so far and results have been excellent. Family impressed again!

- Family have really used it yet. Too early.

- Ability to perform quick BW and color photocopies has been a bonus.

eg. copy a quick magazine article without turning on computer as I used to.

- Unit feels very rugged. Not flimsey as I have noted of other multi function units

Recently had to buy a full set of 6 ink cartridges.

Total cost $99 Australian ($16.50 each Good price, I think)

Hope that helps.
