Sanford
My first roll of Velvia 100. Leica M6, 50mm Summicron. No bright sun for this test but it seems to lack the impact or punch of the old Velvia 50. This is a 50% crop from a horizontal so it seems plenty sharp. Any others out there?<div></div>
david_kieltyka
Hmmm, I'm not sure this is exactly Velvia subject matter. :-) All reports I've read from testers (Ken Rockwell, for instance) say the new 100 looks nearly identical to the old 50. Haven't tried it myself yet but will soon. -Dave-

awahlster
Kind of hard to compare when there is no example shot on the older 50 ASA version under the exact same conditions.
skeeter
i recently shot two rolls of velvia 100f and one velvia. when i got the slides back i couldn't tell which was which until i peeled off the plastic and looked at the film border.
capocheny
Sanford, Is that Mr. Ed, the talking horse, telling you NOT to take his picture? :) My experience with Velvia is the same as Skeeters. :>| I couldn't tell one from the other either! Both are nice films, IMHO... for the right subject lighting condition! Cheers
paul hart
I have just got two rolls of Velvia 120 back - one the old 50, one the new 100. No direct comparison shots (as I only used one Rolleiflex) but I can't spot any glaring difference. The extra speed is therefore welcome.
ben z
"No bright sun for this test but it seems to lack the impact or punch of the old Velvia 50. " My experience shooting Velvia 50 since it came out in the early 90s, is that overcast is exactly where its "punch" is most visible and welcome. In bright sun, dealing with the contrast is very demanding. I have to overexpose it in bright sun (shoot at ISO 32-40).
crackers_.
Bland? The horse is praising the concept of shadow detail.
