agaimages
I have various memory cards - different brands and my D70 each time allows to record different amount of pictures - in the fine JPG on a 2gb sometimes I get to shoot 400 sometimes 800 pictures before an error message comes on and if I reach the end of card with 400 or 10 pictures left it always comes on and stops me from further shooting- it's frustrating and unpredictable. It can not be a problem with the cards since they are all different brands but with the camera. Has anybody experienced such a problem? Is there a solution? What can be wrong? Any advice? I know it's a technical problem with the camera rather than subject that has to do with wedding photography but this is the forum I read the most and I know people here have enough knowledge to help me out! gary_smith15
Haven't heard of this problem, so afraid can't suggest anything other than doing the firmware update (if you haven't done so) and contacting Nikon through their website - they should be able to help. todd1664878707
It is important that you format the card before each use, don't select "delete all images".Also, make sure you upgrade to the latest firmware (version 2.0). I have never heard of this problem before.
photoreu
Is it simply telling you the card is full or is it saying something else? Things like ISO speed and subject matter all drastically affect file sizes (as well as actually selecting a different file size of course). I dont think you could get 800 shots onto a 2gig card unless you've accidentally switched over to a smaller jpg size. 400 or 500 sounds more like it... anner
I don't know the D70 well, but have you checked it's capacity for storing memory to cards? It may not accept 2GB cards for this very reason. It could be a limitation of the hardware or buffer capacity in the camera. I agree to format your cards each time and to also not switch cards in the middle of their use or use them in different cameras. That aside.. I would be afraid to store 800 images (which could be an entire wedding) on one card! Check the digital camera boards for more responses to this question. Here's another thread that's somewhat relevant.. http://www.photo.net/bboard/q-and-a-fetch-msg?msg_id=008MfG
jack_fisher1
Page 192 - the D70 manual has a list of approved memory cards. The only ones approved greater than 1 GB are the Lexar 40X WA USB and the Microdive 3K4. Not sure this is the answer, but for info... JF
