jtk
Where can I get a 40mm wide-angle hood (or series adapter) and UVfilter for a 40mm Canon 35 f2 ltm ?
steve_levine
Cameraquest has new metal shades in 40mm for $30.
john_shriver
I've used the rectangular 35/50mm Canon hood on my Canon 35/1.8 lens with no problem. Go for about $50 with a 42mm slip-on adapter, which will fit that lens, but may mar the finish. Canon also made a harder to find clamp-on 42mm adapter, which is what I use. michael_kastner
I can recommend Steve's screw-in metal hood (Cameraquest) which has a nice thin metal shove-on cap. Bought it half a year ago and haven't take it off yet!
jtk
Michael...are you saying Gandy's shade for 40MM lens will screw into the 40mm threads of a Canon 35mm lens?
furcafe
John, Gandy sells a 40mm thread hood that will fit the 40mm filter thread on your 35/2 Canon. However, I recommend getting a Walz/Hoya/Kenko 40mm vented hood off eBay, they were originally made for the Canon 50/1.8 (they're marked "For Canon") but work fine on the 35/2 without vignetting (there's a guy called "heavystar" who may be selling modern versions). peter_evans4
I think that "Gandy's" shades are actually Oomiya ("Hansa") shades. If they are, he's applying a markup of about 100%. The last time I looked, "Heavystar" wasn't selling 40.0mm. However, he was selling 43mm, so I'm using that in combination with a 40-43 stepup ring. leicamshooter
I placed a 40mm Heliopan filter for sale a few weeks ago, but it didn't sell. I'm going to be putting it up on the popular auction site soon. Let me know if you're interested. <http://www.photo.net/bboard/q-and-a-fetch-msg?msg_id=00Cz 5A>

leicamshooter
John, I just realized, that you're the gentleman I sold my 35/2 Canon to!
jtk
Gonzalo, just got it, gave you a positive, and sent an email about that filter. $? send me an email. Man, I'm GLAD I didn't get an Ultron...this Canon 35 f2's half the bulk and much better built (assuming Ultron's a typical CV, like my Nokton). Spend it wisely, or not :-)
