Lines on image from EOS 30D

Hello,

 

<p>My new 30D seems to produce straight vertical lines on some images (maybe 20%

of images). Here's a sample:

Whatever it is, it's not normal, so I would return the 30D and get a new one.

Hi James, it's certainly possible you need to exchange or repair your camera. However I'd also format all of your CF cards, in-camera, to make sure they aren't a culprit. If after you do the camera still mis-behaves, I do think its either time to exchange it or ship it off for repair. That's definitely not "normal". Good luck!

Only a couple of weeks ago somebody with a 5D was complaining about the same thing here. He decided to send his camera back.

James, in addition to formatting your CF cards, it's possibly worth making sure that your firmware is up to date and that there are no compatability issues with flash/card/firmware/high iso-value.

<p>The suggestion about all ISOs is a reasonable one, as banding on higher-ISO shots is not abnormal. But it should be far less pronounced that what's seen in your picture. I agree: make sure you're on current firmware, format the CF card in the camera, and if the problem recurs, there's something wrong with the camera.</p>
