dave_chadderton
This may not be No.1, but it's certainly in my top ten. Not taken with a Leica, but a lowly Pentax P30T in 1993, I was in the Falkland Islands and saw 2 young Killer Whales 'playing' with petrols on the sea. They eventually came so close I was able to (somewhat petrified!) grab this quick, out-of-focus shot of the orca in the breaking wave. I estimate I was about 15m away, standing in the shallow water. The shot is technically not great, but seeing these magnificent creatures in the wild was something I shall never forget. The memory affects me still, as I have a slight aversion to visiting zoos etc - these days, I prefer my animals uncaged. Here's the pic ... What do you guys have?<div></div>
harvey_trautenberg1
Like you, my most memorable photos are in my mind not the ones printed on paper. The paper ones are only a reminder of the experience, and sometime unnecessary.
h._p.
I find that pictures are memories in themselves. Some of the shots of my family remind me of good times when, perhaps, I would otherwise forget them. I agree that technical quality is often less important than the image itself.<div></div>
mdanger
I was also thinking somewhat similar thoughts...I was thinking that I expect, at that life ending moment, when images/life are supposed to flash in front of you, that all my pictures will fly by, and the physical labors of creating those moments, are my life.
