alexguerra
Hi! I'm into buying one of this cameras but I really can't decided myself for one of them. I'm interested in 12x zoom, 5 MP and image stabilization system cameras. I've been reading many reviews and as main differences for me are the bigger and heavier Sony, but poorer movie quality in the Panasonic. The price and features and very similar. The camera with better image quality would make me decide, so I'd be very thankfull if anyone of you could give me some tips and maybe to share some personal experience with any of these cameras?... jcuknz
If you want to shoot movies why not buy a proper Sony video camera. The FZ5 isn't a movie camera and it is daft to expect it to do the job.
alexguerra
JC, I know that and I don't see it as decisive factor in my choice... but it counts since I don't have a lot of money to spend in a video camera and it is very handy to have video capability in a photographic device that you may also take with you to social events with your friends for instance. boydie
Have you considered the Canon S2. Has 5 MP, IS, 12 times zoom and very good video quality and more. Boydie
jcuknz
My question is ... Has Canon with the S2 caught up with Panasonic FZ's for speed of operation, notably turn around between shots. If it has I would go for the S2 with it's fold and tilt LCD which is a feature I miss when using my FZ20 after starting with a Nikon 5700. But if the Canon is as slow as my Nikon I would go for the FZ5 ... since I rarely use the LCD as I like holding the camera to my face after using SLRs :-) But the tilt and twist LCD saves me lying down in the mud :-) For absolute image quality check the www.dpreview.com review where I think they compare the two cameras from memory.
