manitas
Buy the Nikon D50, Nikon 50mm f/1.8, and spend the other $1,400 on a glamour photography course:) Kidding aside, that kind of money could buy you the Nikon D70s, a couple of nikon SB-600 flashes (or a low end studio set-up) and one lens good for portraits. I am sure Canon has similar setups, if you want to go with that brand. I have owned both, and both are fantastic. I hope this is helpful.
doc444
You can buy a pro grade camera for under 500 add in a great lens for another 500 and a vertical grip for under 120 I am talking about the olympus E1 its a great camera water resistant the lens 14-54 is top notch and skin tones are the best I have looked at. Or go out and buy a 30D canon for 3000 a di nikon or d200 and be a poor boy. I just love the olympus and their optics are some of the best out there. It still comes down to choice.
