stacy
I wanted to do an album for people not really interested in wedding albums (like this couple). So I made a book (it will be an Asuka book)with a little intro and tried to look at it like someone had asked me to make a photography book from these wedding images- does that make sense? So I just choose random 40 images and put them in no real particular order. I did that because I feel like if I put them in an order people will expect to know what's coming next and pay closer attention to the story than to the photos. So what do you think about this idea? Saleable or not? What could make this little book more like a book you find on a bookstore shelf? oh- the cover is in the folder too- and the intro is near the bottom- they got a bit jummbled when I uploaded them :) Oh- and yes, we have plenty of other album options- this might just be a fun add on? http://www.photo.net/photos/Stacy Thanks for your thoughts!<div></div>
jillmyers
I think it's a fabulous idea and it fits your style and the couple perfectly. I don't think it would work as well if they weren't fun photojournalistic shots like these. I haven't ordered anything other than traditional matted albums so I can't give you advise on making it more like bookstore book. Would you mind letting me know how it turns out and how much it costs to make? I'd love to do something like this too... kim long- cincinnati, ohio
Frankly, I think it is fabulous. Quirky but very classy. Will it be broadly marketable? Probably not. But I predict it will appeal highly to a very specific sort of clientele, a niche market you have demonstrated to have a pretty good corner on already, so I think you should go for it! kim long- cincinnati, ohio
P.S. With the quality of work you provide, and the kind of reputation you've established, I personally believe you occupy a position that affords you some ability to *tell* your clients what is a good idea, if that makes any sense. david_schilling___chicago_
Cute....I like the story narrative. Initially the idea of random images rather than keeping them sequential concerned me but as I looked at the book it grew on me....kinda quirky but in a cool way. My vote is good idea :-)
mikestryinagain
You are right, the randomness changes the whole perception. I think its a cool idea! Love that monkey-bars shot, is that the cover?
timberwulf
Beautiful images, and a great idea for this particular niche. Nice job!
paul_sokal___dallas__tx
Stacy, This is so totally cool. It's so mid-century modern, I feel like I'm in a time warp. (My house is MCM so I'm definitely into that) I don't know how this would appeal to the general market but for this couple it looks perfect. The spread with the old Dodge? and the nerdy ties is awesome. Hey, did you ever get my e-mail offer about the Silver Rag? I think that was you, wasn't it? Oh, how I miss my mind. picturesque
Good idea. Let us know how it sells. I hope well, because I think it looks great and would appeal to the more off beat, artistic type couples.
photochick
very much like the album. I'm not a fan of the bride looking out the window just because of how she turned out. Every other shot is wonderful.
