puppy_face2
If you need a plastic lens mount (cut down on weight?), you'll have to buy an EOS Rebel 2000 (EOS 300 in Europe? Kiss III in Japan). The EOS 30/33 has a metal lens mount and pressure plate, but what is worse, it has aluminum top, front and side panels making it cold to the touch. Silly Canon, they even put metal in the command dial. The all plastic bodies are great as you can get them through metal detectors at airports without a beep. sajeev_chacko
nobody know whether 30/33/elan 7/7e has a plastic mount because all the bodies manufactured (i guess by Canon) so far has metal mounts.
jonathan_payne
I have an Elan 7e, and one of the reasons I originally bought it rather than a Rebel 2000 is because the Elan 7/7e has a metal lens mount. You can't buy an Elan 7 with a plastic mount.
- Jonathan
patkane
I have a Rebel G with a plastic mount and I change lenses quite often to keep the lens I'll be shooing with most often on my Elan 7, and the plastic mount hasn't been a problem. But then again it doesn't have that nice mechanical feel when I put a metal-mount lens on it...
