Polaroid 545 Problem...Help?

Just got my first Polaroid 545 holder. Inserted type 55 film with

holder out of camera (want SEE it go in). I can see and hear the film

go to the end and lock in, 545 set to L. Instructions now say withdraw

envelope check for pod. Pod is with envelope! Reinsert to click and

pull again and again? 5 times, envelope will not separate from film.

Take the 55 film out of 545, straighten little metal strip at the end

of film, try again with 545 out of camera (yes I know the film will be

exposed) no luck. Try with 3 more sheets of 55 film no luck. What

going wrong?

I had the same problem. There is probably an old end piece stuck in the receiving slot. Go to the SK Grimes site and they have detailed instructions on how to take holder apart.

As my Polaroid back has gotten old I have become plagued with that problem

especially if the box of film has been opened and left out a few days. What

you need to do is before you put the polaroid into the back first take your

finger and bend out the metal black edge (on the film packet) that catches the

catch (inside the polaroid back) You need only bend it out a little and only on

the side that is supposed to catch in the holder. then it will make a better

connection and usually will work. just a bit maddening. Perhaps you bought

your 545 used as when mine was new it never did that.
