As second shooter, I don't do any of the formals so that's where I really need to get some experience. If I can shoot like this consistently I just might get up the courage to do one alone. Would one of the photographers you assisted for serve as your mentor and maybe let you be the lead photographer at a wedding? This could help you with the formals, set up and lighting, getting the people together etc. but it would also give you the opportunity to gain experience and therby building up your self-confidence to do a wedding on your own.
