vivek iyer
Very nice, Gene! Thanks for posting some of the 12mm (?) C-V captures. The pinhole (the whirly image in B&W) is a beauty.
robert_gandy
Nice shots of "yesterday". San Francisco had a "Playland" years ago and it too closed down. Really unfortunate that today's kids can't have those experiences.
xbow
I miss the beachfront arcades and boardwalks. How could we squeeze one in nowadays between all the towering condos...?
dave_whoami
Is that the place from the Clint Eastwood movie? With 40 years of hindsight I regret not having brought my camera to the 64 Worlds Fair or Coney Island in the same period. Of course I was only 10 in those days, but did have a brownie of my own. david_m
Nice photos of the carousel. There is also a 'Playland' amusement park in Rye, NY which is very much alive. I've taken lots of photos there. Unfortunately, I don't have any of them scanned. If you are curious, goto www.ryeplayland.org
roseberry guitars
Nice post Gene, I love carousel ponies. I've always wanted to have one for my living room. I almost bought one from an old fair, a couple years ago, but the seller had stripped the paint off before I got there to see it. I'm told collectors want to see the woodwork under the paint so they strip it off. That just seems "Wrong!" to me. Anyways, well done Gene. I especially like the B/W of the ponie. Pinhole camera,I assume?

jraymond
Thank you Gene for the wonderful trip down memory lane. As a child I remember taking the Nantasket Boat from Rowes Wharf in Boston to Nantasket Beach and then return after a fun day on the beach and the amusements. Have some fond memories of the "splash boats" and the roller coaster.
