frederick_muller
Just a quickie ... has anyone tried the 12585 vented hood on a 35 f2 Summicron Aspherical and noticed vignetting wide open? The hood fits the 35 Summicron Asph, and it's marked acceptable for 35mm f2.8's and 3.5's.
Bill Blackwell Images
Personally, I don't care much for the plastic shade that comes with the 35mm Summicron. I currently use a 12504, which allows the E39 lens cap to be installed and removed without disturbing the shade. I have also used a 12585 shade with no problems. “When you come to a fork in the road, take it ...” – Yogi Berra
timothy_nelson
I used the 12585 on a 2nd version 35/2 with no problems, but it clipped the corners of negatives on my 4th version (pre-ASPH) 35/2. Better to use the rectangular 12524 hood or the hood for the ASPH for that version.
dennis_couvillion
I also used the 12585 vented hood when I had the 35mm Summicron-ASPH and, although some others have reported vignetting, I never saw it on any of my negatives.
nemeng
<Leica FAQ>
12585 vented hood on a 35 f2 Summicron Aspherical
I use one all the time on that lens. Works fine - no vignetting at all.
I put a thin rubber band in the hood-mount-notch on the lens barrel to give the hood "teeth" something to grip onto (and so stop the hood from rotating). I also use a 52mm clip-on lenscap (fits the hood perfectly) to keep fingers away from the glass when the lens isn't in use :?)
