brad_herman1
I currently have a Leica CM and a Metz 34 CS2 flash. The Metz is a great little flash, (actually pretty powerful) 3-Auto f/stops, slave functionality etc. It works well with the CM in Aperture Priority Mode and the exposures are acurate. I would guess that it is comparable to the SF 20. My question is how much better/more accurate is the SF 24D in TTL mode? Thanks, Brad Herman
moritz_nienburg
Brad, The guide number controlled flash mode (GNC) does only work with the Leica CM and the SF24D. The SF20 has only the TTL mode. The GNC mode takes the aperture and distance from the camera in consideration. The advantage of this control is its complete independence from the reflective properties of the subject, i.e extremely dark or bright objects are automatically rendered correctly. IMHO the results are better than with the ordinary TTL mode. Regards Moritz
nee_sung
I would second Moritz's statement. I have the CM and the SF24D and I have never been more satisfied with my flash shots. In fact, I think the CM could also be called the F(lash)M because from my experience of using CM+SF24D, it is obvious that Leica intended the CM to address the deficiency of the flash capability of the M cameras.
