pteppic
I bought my Scan Dual approximately six months ago, and have been happily usingit since. I have intentions of upgrading to a newer model when slack-cashallows, but since we've moved house my scanner has developed a problem. I use Ubuntu 6.06 and Vuescan. Every time I attempt to scan or preview animage, Vuescan requests that I remove the negative carrier for it to calibrate. Now, this calibration procedure used to be requested on a relatively infrequentbasis (once per month?), but the scanner has now decided that it needs torecalibrate every scan and preview. What makes the scanner request a calibration, is it phsyical damage to thescaneer or dirst and is it something repairable? It's more of a irritation than a problem, since it will still scan negs, it justtakes twice as long. Thanks.
William Kahn
Have you tried re-installing Vuescan?
roger_smith4
It shouldn't do this. I recommend recalibrating every session, but every scan is ridiculous. Email support @ hamrick.com and see if Ed knows about it.
mendel_leisk
Have you tried Minolta Scan Utility lately. To see if it's behaving normally.
pteppic
I'll try dropping Ed a line. Unfortunately I am unable to use the Minolta utility since I'm not running Windows. Thanks
peter_langfelder
There's a setting under the "Options" tab that has calibration period in it - check that it is set to something reasonable, like a few days (the default is 30 days, I believe, but you may have changed the setting by mistake).
