www.wesleyalmond.com
I decided to check the focus on my new Moskva 5 (Zeiss Ikonta C copy) The rangefinder works fine but... I always use fine polished hard plastic to lay on the film plain (homemade ground glass) to check the accuracy of the focusing ring. To my surprise NOTHING came into focus. I didn't try any objects past 15ft but everything stayed consistently out of focus i.e if I turned the focusing rig the image celerity didn't change at all. The only way I could see a clear image is if I put a +4 filter over the lens then I could see something sharp about a foot away. So my question is, did a lens element get reversed or lost during a bad repair job? or am I doing something wrong, I've used this method with other cameras with no problems. Maybe I was given a junk lens??<div></div>

paulh
Hi, Instead of turning the focus wheel, try turning the lens instead. It could be that the focus wheel is slipping. First set the lens to infinity and then check on the GG and object "infinitly far away". Then try some closer distances. Dante Stella's site has a procedure for sorting out the RF mechanism on the Ikonta, which is what the Moskva is based on. Paul
