henry_ed_fly
Will the 77mm ultra thin filters (UV & circular polorizer)work on a Canon EOS f/4 300mm L lens? These filters were expensive and I no longer have the wide angle lens that they were purchased to use on. Thanks.
ken_itoh
No problem. You can use ultra thin filters to any lens. I also use ultra thin filters to telephoto lenses.
Ken
NK Guy
Why wouldn't they work?
The whole point of thin filters is to minimize the risk of vignetting caused by the edge of the filter frame darkening the corners of the image; a problem most common with wide-angle lenses.
There's no problem using a thin filter where one is not needed - the only thing is you'll have to deal with the drawbacks of thin filters. (ie: since they usually lack front threads you can't always attach regular lens caps when the thin filter is in place)
sajeev_chacko
if you have both the 77mm ultra thin filters and EF 300mm f/4 lens, try it out. unless and until there is any electrical contact, any 77mm filter should work with any lens having that filter size. you just have to be careful about vigneting. if you don't see any vigneting through the viewfinder, then i guess that you won't have any problem. NK Guy
>unless and until there is any electrical contact, any 77mm filter should work with any lens having that filter size.
Electrical contact? What on Earth are you talking about?
lee_shively
I think it's sarcasm, NK Guy.
sajeev_chacko
Guy, i exactly meant electrical contacts like the one one any teleconverters. since NO filter, manufactured so far, has any such contacts, there should be NO problems for using any filters on any lens (of the same size, ofcourse). john_peter
Filter with an electrical contact???? That is interesting. Why would one make a filter with electrical contact? I dont think so. BTW.. Sajeev, do you know what we are talking about? Filter never require any kind of electrical power to work. It is some thing that is screwed on to the lens or slide into a filter holder.
Henry:
You can use it, Even I am using an ultra thin filter on my telephoto lens with out any problems.
