Better get your self some good noise removal software if you want to use this camera at or above ISO 400. And pixel count continues to be a major selling point. leslie hancock Posted July 24, 2006 Share Posted July 24, 2006 Their press release claims big noise reduction (via Venus III), noise being the Achilles heel noted by most reviewers of the 8mp LX1. I have an LX1 and like it, but always shoot at ISO 80. I'll certainly try the LX2, but wish they'd changed their sensor/firmware to get the noise down rather than to brag about 25% more pixels.<p> Incidentally, note that the pixel count is for the whole sensor, which has HDTV format. If you crop the LX1 down from 9:16 to 3:4, which most folks would probably do for verticals, you wind up with 6mp 7.5mp would be the LX2 equivalent.<p> I don't think they've changed the lens, an excellent Vario-Elmarit.
