JosvanEekelen
I mean, AFAIK Konica film is made by Konica. I have never seen any indication that someone else but Konica manufactures this film.
jeff_drew4
Some photographers sing the praises of some of the Konica brands. I believe it was originally Sakura. Konica is now KonicaMinolta and a very large company. I've been using Konica cameras for over 30 years and still find some of their SLR innovations welcome and miss them on Nikons & Pentaxes - film is not their bread'n'butter tho'. http://konicaminolta.com/
r.t. dowling
It's made by Konica.

rowland_mowrey
Konica film is made by the Konishiroku film company (Sakura is one of their trade names), located in Hachioji outside Tokyo. The founder was Konishiroku Emon. He was a contemporary of George Eastman and an occasional visitor at EK in Rochester. Ron Mowrey
rustys pics
Made by Konica since 1879. Nice color film. They used to make a really good konicachrome 100 slide film, but it's been years since I've seen it.
david chau
konica films are much more popular in the asian region than other places around the world, most of the konica films i see in australia is either vx100 (found in 2 dollar shops) and centuria (found in camera stores) but i have also seen the konica pro 160 film as stated before konica films is made by konica themselves, its a usable film, nothing wrong with it
larrydressler
OK I guess I asked for that. That is why I like you guys. I got ahold of a few rolls of VX100 and VX200 and I tryed them both but I noticed they did have more yellow skin tones. I was just wondering if any of you used them and what you thought of them? I just froze a few bricks of Agfa Vista 100 400 and 800 but I am thinking I will have to use the faster 800 first because radiation fog will be quicker on it. I know the days of cheap film are probely ending quicker than $1.50 gasoline.
r.t. dowling
I kept a Fuji disposable camera (which contained ISO 800 film) in the glove box of my car for over a year. It probably endured temperates up to 150F in there. The images came out fine -- no fog or color cast at all. That doesn't necessarily mean that Agfa 800 will behave the same way, but I thought it would be worth mentioning that there are some fast color films available that are very durable. dk_thompson
konica has a pretty large facility in NC actually, that makes paper...I'm not sure if they make any film there though. it's in between Burlington & Greensboro, along I40. about ten + years ago, the company put some money into the community college system in the state to train some of their personnel, and in turn the state got a minilab setup at a nearby community college campus that offered a degree in photofinishing.... drjedsmith
I'm in the middle of testing Konica VX Super 100 against Fuji Reala 100 and Kodak Gold 100. I'll post the results here, but so far it looks really, really close.
So close in fact that I can't see spending the extra for Reala any more.
Jed
rowland_mowrey
Konica has had a reputation for making good quality film and paper. They were hit badly during the war and during the post war recovery had a very bad plant fire. As a result, they have taken a back seat to Fuji when once they were equal to or larger than Fuji. Now they are part of the Minolta family (or vice versa, Minolta is part of the Konica family depending on your viewpoint). Ron Mowrey
