jas1
Hi, I use a 550EX on my 10D. I also have a 420EX that I use as a slave. Is there a way to use the 550 @ reduced power (sort of like a fill light) with the 420 outputting full power as the main light off to one side? I think that it can be done by placing the flash in manual mode, but I would like to know if it can be done in "auto" mode to retain TTL metering.ThanksJas
ted_sorensen1
Yes you just need to set a ratio. see you 550EX user manual and/or go to this site: http://photonotes.org/articles/eos-flash/
ted_sorensen1
some excerpts copied from the manual: "With slave unit A being the main flash and slave unit B being the fill flash, the flash ratio (A:B) between these two slave units can be set from 8:1 to 1:1 or from 1:1 to 1:8. (Thirteen 1/2-stop increments.) On the master unit, press the < SEL/SET > button and select Ratio Pressing the < SEL/SET> button changes the selection in the following loop: Press the < - > button to select Ratio ON A:B. Ratio ON A:B will blink. Press the < SEL/SET > button again.....
