Nikon D70 battery drain problem?

I have a D70; it'll drain a fully charged battery in 1-2 days without

shooting - even when the camera is turned off! I've tried two

different CF cards and have 3 batteries to test with, all drain in the

same time when inside the camera.

 

Each battery appears to be operational - I can shoot over 200 shots

per charge in one sitting.

 

Is this normal?

I have a strong feeling it isn't. A charged battery on my D70 will stay charged through weeks of non-use. And then I can still pick it up and shoot hundreds of images before I need to charge.

 

Other experiences may be different of course..... this is just mine.

This is absolutely abnormal. Battery drain should be next to nothing to keep the frame counter LCD on when the camera is off.

Mine only drains like that if I leave it on and hooked up to my computer.

Abnormal. Mine can last weeks on a charge just sitting.

You have a defective battery. Mine sits for a month (gasp!) without hardly any loss.

If you've tried more than one battery, it sounds like it's time for your D70 to visit Nikon. Sorry about that.

Same here. I have had the same battery in my D70 for weeks now and run over 500 shots through it.

Since you get the same battery drain from all 3 batteries, even when turned off, it sounds like a problem with the D70! I have a D100, and like the D70 users mentioned above, I can shoot hundreds of pictures before having to replace the battery with a freshly-charged one. In fact, I have left mine ON for a week, in my camera bag, and there was no battery drain at all that I could see. Get thee to a Nikon-authorized repair shop!
