tom_gibson5 Posted May 4, 2002 Share Posted May 4, 2002 I just bought a Conon G2 digital camera. Conon recomends EX series speedlights. I was wondering if anyone has tried using a 540ez on a G2. what would the effects be and would it harm my camera. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
puppy_face2 Posted May 5, 2002 Share Posted May 5, 2002 The 540EZ is an A-TTL/TTL flash, the best of its breed. Unfortunately, the G2 is E-TTL only and will only work with an EZ series flash such as the 220EZ, 420EZ or 550EZ. TTL works by measuring the light that reflects off the film at the moment of exposure. Obviously, you can't do that with a G2. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
sajeev_chacko Posted May 5, 2002 Share Posted May 5, 2002 What's conon????
and puppy face, only EX series flashes are capable of E-TTL and noneother. what you mentioned i.e. EZ series units are A-TTLcapable. so you pressed Z instead of X. puppy_face2 Posted May 5, 2002 Share Posted May 5, 2002 Yeah, sorry. I meant to type 220WX, oops, 220EX, 420EX and 550EX. The problem is the X is right nezt to the Z on the dad burn keyboard! Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

jimstrutz Posted May 5, 2002 Share Posted May 5, 2002 Actually, you can use the 540EZ in the flash's manual mode. You have to set the aperture based on the distance & ISO setting. It's slow but it can be done. With the flash in TTL mode the flash will fire full power all the time. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I knew it was just a matter of time before someone figured out how our naming protocol suddenly changed!
~~~~~~~~~~~ Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
gustavo_aleman Posted December 31, 2002 Share Posted December 31, 2002 I have the CANON G1 and i was using a SUNPACK 4000 AF with it but it's very ackward because you have to set the flash and the apertuer/shutter speed manually so i bought the 550EX and it syncronizes perfectly, the canon system altoghether will work fine and both the camera and flash comunicate with each other and you'l get great and well exposed pictures.gUs Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
