steve_tenggala
Hi there, I need some advices here. I'm looking to get a wide angle lense for my RZ67. A friend of mine is offering me his 50mm ULD lens and ask me to give him an offer. I told him I'll do a little research before I can come up with a number. The question is, if you were in my position, how much are you willing to pay for it? I'm aware that it would cost me more than getting the regular 50mm or the 65mm, but how about the quality? I read a lot of postings about the soft corner issue on the regular 50mm, so I guest it should be better. But how about against the regular 65mm? The price difference is quite significant, but I also see a lot of people prefer the 65mm to the regular 50mm. But against the ULD, which one would you prefer? Does the extra wide-angle is more useful or more limiting compared to more versatile 65mm FOV? Should I buy my friend lens or just wait for better price on the 65mm? Or should I even look for the 65mm LA version? Your opinion is greatly appreciated. THanks.
sandeep_singh_brar
I have the 50mm ULD and am a happy camper. If I only had to have one lens for my RZ this would be it. Wide angle, no distortion, extreme close focusing, very resistant to flare, sharp to the edges, worth every penny. I know that the 50 ULD and the 65mm LA both are held in very high regard, choose either of them and you can't go wrong. I wanted the wider view of the 50. Typical ebay market rates for a mint copy of the 50 ULD is $650 to $850 these days.
fredlee70x7
The version which people complained about the edge softness is the older one. The newer ULD version is tack sharp edge from edge. It's a wonder. Go for it.
