armando_roldan
Yesterday I was a local airport shooting some images of a B-17 bomber and I took my D2h and yet to me used, new D70s. I had a 70-200mm on the D2h and 18-70mm on the D70s. I arrived just as the bomber was landing and started shooting as it taxi directly at me. I took about 5-6 shots and checked the LCD dispaly and it was washed out. I realzied I left the mode setting to M since I was shooting 2 nights before at a night softball game. I switched the mode to P and took 2 more shots and saw it was still washed out. I then realized the cameras light meter was not working properly.I remvoed and inserted the battery again( freshly charged) and reset the camera settings and it was still dead. It will not even meter properly using manual mode. It seems to stuck like it is at ASA 2 or something. 1/3 of sec at f3.5 for daylight. I even swapped lenses to make sure it was the camera and not the lens. I have read that some D2H have had problems with the lightmeter but this camera has about 26,000 activations. I bought it used a year ago and out of warranty anyways. My question is if this happen to anyone that was out of warranty and how much did it cost by sending it to Nikon? I had thoughts of selling the camera AS IS but checking ebay prices last night, I see the price of a working D2h is now $1000 or less and I rather fix it than give it away. Rick Waller
Nice timing. Just this past Saturday, I had my 3 yr old D2h, which never gave me a hint of trouble, exhibit exactly the same problem that you are describing. And just this morning, bright and early, I was at NIkon repair in Melville to get it fixed. Problem is well know by Nikon and they didn't blink an eye. They are fixing it for free - no questions asked. go here and read about it and download the form while you are there. Unless you live closeby to Nikon NY or CA, you'll need that form to have the service performed. http://www.nikonusa.com/email_images/nikonusa/service_advisory/d2h.html

ted turner
My D2H meter board failed at only 3K clicks. The free repair took about 2.5 weeks including ship time. Ted www.pbase.com/turnert
