jim_hicks3
Hi all, new to digital and have read here that (flash) high voltage is bad for digital cameras. I know that you can't use them on hotshoe but what about off camera connected with pc cord, is it still the same as on top and mess up electronics? Have 20d. Thanks for any help. skipd
The 20D PC terminal is rated at 250 volts. It isn't clear in the manual, but I believe the hot shoe is similarly rated. That should be cleared up with Canon before risking it, however.
paul -
From <a href="http://photography-on-the.net/forum/archive/index.php/t-59663.html">http://photography-on-the.net/forum/archive/index.php/t-59663.html</a>:<P>"Doug Kerr over at the Rob Galbraith forum published an email he received from Chuck Westfall that confirms information on the Euro-Canon website:<P> "The voltage tolerance on all Canon EOS cameras is the same for both the hotshoe and the PC terminal (if there is a PC terminal). The 10D and the 300D have 6-volt flash syncs, the 20D and the 1D series have 250v flash syncs.""
jason_fitzmaurice
How bout the 350? I like it so much I am considering switching to Canon to have a good small DSLR to go with my film bodies. If it has the higher voltage sync that might seal the deal.
bobatkins
The 350D (Digital Rebel XT) is also 250v according to Canon
jason_fitzmaurice
Excellent. Time to make the switch I guess.
