terry_rory
Some of you have now updated your D70 firmware to release 2.0 and I guess some of you are even using the new D70s by now. Can you comment on the 'improved' menus compared to the old D70 menus? Thanks. ps. do your favourite custom settings survive the updated firmware or do you have to re-apply them? (All was OK after I did the 1.03 update so I assume it will be OK after 2.0)
scotth
The menus are now black, white and gray, with your selection highlighted in yellow. I guess they are clearer, but I never found them unclear before. So far my favorite improvement is that the camera accurately tells me how many exposures I have remaining, instead of me having to double the number. Instead of telling me there are 94 NEF exposures with an empty 1GB card, it reads 178. And yes, my settings were preserved.

raym
It could be my hearing but, the volume of the Beep sound from autofocus being achieved has been reduced and is very subtle now. Custom settings including Tone Comp is same as before. My empty 1 gig ultra II says 178 shot remaining. I like the new colors of the menus. They were ok before and even better now. Pictbridge menu has the option to select paper size and I chose letter and printed with zero issues. I don't think this option was available prior to this update? So far so good:)
scottconners
I like the new menus. They seem to have less blending/emboss effect on the edges, which always made me feel like the old menu was "low rez." They now seem sharper to my eye. I'm also hoping that they will be less harmful on my eyes when working at night (way less harsh colors).
efusco
FWIW, I show 159 shots remaining using the RAW + Basic JPG setting on an empty 1GB CF. I agree, the menues are fine in the new version but I never had a problem with the old.
rustys pics
Upgraded firmware using a Mac G4. All custom settings preserved. Menu selections are much nicer and stand out better. A cursory shooting showed no surprises. So far a painless update....
ottocrat
Updating the firmware on my G4 powerbook, I had to rename the 'A' firmware's file extension from .bin to .BIN in order for the D70 to recognise it and process it. Other than that, all seems well.
