chris_c._yu
I got a F5 with the EC-E screen only. The five focusing brackets as viewed from the viewfinder did not turn from grey to black to indicate the focus area. However, the LCD panel on top of the body did indicated the location of the focus bracket as I turned it.All autofocusing functions worked fine.Is the focus brackets only turn from grey to black with the EC-B screen. Please advice. Ed_Ingold
The change is pretty subtle. Do the position indicators in the viewfinder change? Perhaps the contacts are dirty. Clean the contacts on the screen and camera with a microfiber lens cloth.
constance_cook
Hi Chris: The focus brackets on my ED-E screen turn very black in the finder when pressed. Try the things mentioned in the earlier post. Conni
chris_c._yu
Hi Conni, I got it all wrong, the screen I am using was an E screen without any contacts on the side. That's why the focusing brackets didn't turn from grey to black.I took my F5 to my photo dealer here in Hong Kong and test it with an EC-B screen and it works.Anyway,I have ordered an EC-E screen.Thank you for your advice. david_h._hartman
Are you sure the screen is an EC-E screen. If it is, it will be clearly labeled as such. There is also an E screen for the F5 that does not have electronic contacts and where the focus brackets do not turn dark or bold when selected.
