dave92029
Has anyone purchased a Nova Remote Switch on Ebay rather that buying the Canon RS-80N3 ? The Nova switch looks like Nova makes the Canon RS-80N3 and this is their private lable verion. The Canon switch is almost twice the price, and I just can't understand how the Canon RS-80N3 is a better electrical switch. Is it? Thanks for your assistance
kin_lau
Don't know about the Nova one, but I just bought mine off Ebay from China, CDN$6- vs CDN$89-. Works just fine with my 20D.
hyunyu
I bought an ADIDT version of the RS-80N3 on eBay from Hong Kong for 99 cents, plus $12 shipping (wink wink--eBay doesn't assess percentage final value fee on shipping!), for a net total of $12.99. It arrived promptly and all three functions (half-press, full-press, and shutter lock) work fine. Not as well constructed as the Canon remote, but for my occasional use, I'm happy enough with it. mike_hodson
I also bought an ADIDT from E-bay. Works just fine.
eos 10 fan
Are there any third party alternatives to the
Canon Timer Remote Controller TC-80N3 ($133 at B&H)?
Thanks
--
mark u
Nova sell their "own" remote, and in the past they have also sold the Adidt wireless ones (which can also be used as a simple wired remote). Their own is better built than the standard Adidt wired remote.
franklin_polk
Dan, if you have some understanding of electronics, you could buy a simple remote release, chop off the release part (the box with the button), and make an interval timer (you can probably get the parts from Radio Shack or Edmunds Scientific) that connects to the cord and the proprietary N3 socket. It would still probably cost about half of the TC-80N3.
