thomas_a_ferko
I would like opinions as to the best soft carry bag(no Backpack) that is currently manufactured and will carry most of the Mamiya 645 camera system. I have the Mamiya Superwith power grip and prizm. The 45mm lens, a 105-210mm lens and the 500mm f8 mirror lens presently. I will be adding a few more lenses. I realize Mamiya makes a hard case for the camera system but I would like to hear from anyone who has or has used an ideal soft carry bag that has most Mamiya items laid out in a logical neat order. I need your recommendations- a focus point to look at when I shop for a bag. Forget price guidelines. I will appreciate all input. lyle_barnard
I'm very happy using the LowePro OmniPro case for my Mamiya 645 outfit - body with powerdrive and AE prism, four lenses to 300mm, three backs plus two boxed inserts, polaroid back, exposure meter and several cokin P filters plus the usual little "stuff". Looks like a briefcase and can hang on my shoulder. Also, it will go in a Pelican hardcase (though I don't use one). Recommend it highly at less than $150. moses_sparks
I carry an extensive Mamiya 645 system in a Tamrac 614 Super Pro bag, and find that it works very well. It holds 2 bodies, 5 lenses, prism, power drive grip, 3 backs, Polaroid back, waist level finder, and many accessories with room to spare.
The thing I like best is that I can carry a body with film back, grip, prism, and any except my longest lens attached and ready to shoot. It really saves on set up time.
I shoot entertainment work (celebrities, filmmakers, executives) and anything that lets me work faster and more efficiently is worth it's weight in gold!
This is a large bag, but it holds the entire system, and the top is big enough to provide a good sized work surface for lenses, meters, etc. when working on location.
I have about 9 or 10 different Tamrac bags, and have always found them to be of excellent quality.
